About

Welcome to ChuckWarnock.com. I started blogging in 2006, and have recently moved to Ghost.io as my all-in-one platform.
I write about the heart – both the spiritual one and the physical one. Here's why –
I served as a pastor for over 30-years, retiring in September 2023 from Chatham Baptist Church in Chatham, VA after almost 20-years with that wonderful, progressive congregation. My sudden retirement was due to two heart attacks, the second of which just about killed me. Obviously, it didn't, and I am feeling much better than I did several months ago.
The heart attack stuff has not only sparked a new interest in staying alive, but also in understanding heart failure, which I'm living with now. And, after lots of both helpful and frustrating medical experiences, I want to help others navigate that diagnosis as well. So, I address the physical heart stuff in my newsletter, My Heart Failure Life. I am not a medical professional, but I write about my own experiences dealing with 2 heart attacks, multiple heart procedures, medications, doctor visits, and so on.
As for the spiritual heart, I write a weekly meditation based on the Gospel reading for that week and send it out as a newsletter, The Rhythm of Grace.
Both newsletters – My Heart Failure Life and The Rhythm of Grace are free and always will be. I'm not trying to make money, just be helpful and encouraging. You can subscribe to one or both newsletters, and of course, you can unsubscribe at anytime. I'm not tech-savvy enough to sell your email address, so it's safe with me here, I promise.
For those who are interested, my educational experience was at Mercer University in Atlanta (BA); Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv); and, Fuller Theological Seminary (DMin).
I'm interested in British murder mystery shows, baseball, helping Debbie in the garden, ancient spiritual traditions, good books, and exploring interesting ideas, particularly the rhythms of life found all around us.
Subscribe today and get the latest articles first
Subscribe today – it's free – and you'll get access to the website as well as an email newsletter with new content as soon as it's published. Your free subscription encourages the work I do and helps get the word out.
How can I do this for free? Of course there are expenses, so from time-to-time I'll announce a new book or other product available for purchase. I may also add a tip jar to the site, but subscriptions are free. However, if you can, feel free to share links, recommend the site, or in other ways help get the word out. That will help tremendously.
Fresh content, delivered
To receive the latest articles delivered to your email inbox, please subscribe. I post links to new articles on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, BlueSky and other places, but to guarantee you don't miss out, please subscribe. You can unsubscribe at anytime...I promise. And, this platform is not annoyingly aggressive like some. So if your needs change, you can unsubscribe with no problem, and I wish you the best.
Meet people like you
Join a community of other subscribers who share the same interests. Frankly, I haven't explored all that means yet, but I will as I continue to build out the site. Anyway, whatever "community" means here, it's always voluntary and never annoying (there's that word, again). Really.
Mostly, thank you
Thank you. I really mean that. I'm launching a new effort here, and potentially leaving behind about 800 subscribers on my WordPress site. But, I think the transition will be worth it in the long run. My intention is to be as helpful as I can be, to the most people I can, and give something back in the process.
And now a word from our host: Start your own thing
Enjoying the experience? I like mine so far, which is why I moved to Ghost. Get started for free and set up your own newsletter using Ghost, the same platform that powers this website. (I wish they had chosen another name. Except on Halloween I'll probably like it.)
